Robin is the daughter of Robert Scorpio and Anna Devane, two spies/undercover operatives  and Patrick Drake is the son of famous Noah Drake, a prominent neurosurgeon.

Robin Scorpio is a physician and a romantic whose life has known two great loves, Stone Cates and now Dr. Patrick Drake

Robin arrived in Port Charles as a baby.  She grew up thinking her mother, Anna Devane, was her aunt. Her father, Robert Scorpio, had no idea that he shared a daughter with Anna.   When her parents were thought dead in an explosion she was adopted by her uncle Mac Scorpio, who is currently the Police Commissioner in Port Charles. He was, at one time, married to Felicia Jones who had two daughters and this gave Robin two step-cousins, Maxie and Georgie Jones.

After her first love, Stone Cates, died from AIDS and left her HIV-positive, and through a series of other events, she began seeing Jason Morgan.  She introduced Jason to her close friend, Sonny Corinthos, where he became Sonny's mob enforcer.  Robin’s relationship with Jason ended when Robin told Jason's brother, A.J. Quartermaine, that he (and not Jason) was the father of Carly’s son, Michael. Robin and Jason's relationship was over and she left Port Charles in 1999 for Paris.

Patrick Drake is a talented and arrogant surgeon who came to Port Charles to assist Robin in a medical case, one with Jason Morgan as the patient.  Wth an eye for the women, he made it a habit to have conquests all over the hospital.  His father, Noah Drake, while a famous neurosurgeon, was also an alcoholic and not a great father.  When Patrick was young, he idolized Noah and wanted to be just like his dad. However, Noah became an alcoholic after his wife, Mattie, died on his operating table during an emergency surgery. They had little to do with one another for a very long time and as one would guess, their relationship was more than strained.  Shortly after his arrivle in Port Charles the two had a confrontation. Patrick explained that he didn't blame Noah for not being able to save his mom, but he did blame him for dishonoring Mattie's memory by wrecking his life. He told Noah to get sober or to go away and not come back.

Realizing his son was right, Noah went into rehab and sobered up. Unfortunately, it was then discovered that his liver was failing and he'd need a transplant. Despite Patrick's pleas, Noah refused to put himself on the transplant list, believing it was what he deserved. Patrick then offered part of his liver to Noah who refused that also because he didn't want to risk Patrick's life.

While the relationship between Robin and Patrick was difficult at best, she helped Patrick forge the paperwork to allow him to give part of his liver to Noah, without Noah's consent. Noah was furious when he regained consciousness after the surgery and discovered what happened and threatened to sue the hospital. He later dropped the suit once he realized the impact it would have on Robin, who had been suspended for her part in Patrick's action. He remained angry with Patrick though and was determined to prove that he was still a much better man and surgeon than Patrick was.

Patrick and Robin
Robin's return to Port Charles was to help save Jason’s life when he had began experiencing painful and potentially fatal seizures. It was during this time that she teamed up with neurosurgeon Patrick Drake.  Robin was grateful to Patrick when the surgery he performed on Jason was a success. This initial contact is what eventually lead them to become a couple. Their teamwork again came in handy when only a couple of months later, Port Charles experienced a deadly virus outbreak which brought Robin's father, Robert Scorpio, to town. There had been a severe strain on their relationship, but during this time, father and daughter reconciled.

Not long after that, the Metro Court Hotel was under siege by a madman. During the Metro Court Crisis, where everyone was being held hostage, Robin was shot randomly shot by the maniacal Mr. Craig in the lower abdomen. He allowed her to be saved but only with the help of  Emily Quartermaine (Jason’s sister) and Carly Jax, Robin's enemy per se, and guidance from Patrick over the telephone.  They successfully made it through the 'field surgery' and saved Robin and once the crisis was over she was rushed to GH with Patrick at her side.

During a surgery on patient with AIDS, Patrick inadvertently cut himself, exposing himself to the HIV virus. Being HIV positive herself, Robin supported him during this time. They became closer and eventually became lovers. Patrick later learned that he was not infected with HIV, but he had fallen totally in love with his soul mate Robin and that scared him to death.  They had a playful and at the same time very tumultuous relationship.

After a few months of being together, Robin wanted to settle down and commit to each other with a wedding and children. Patrick had different plans. He was certain due to the way his father behaved and how he was raised he would be a horrible husband and father. Eventually they couldn't come to terms and Robin walked out on Patrick.

Their love wouldn't let go and they reunited once again and after a few months of being together, happy and in love, Robin had a pregnancy scare. Although the test ended up being negative, she realized she was ready  for different things from life than Patrick was. She wanted more (children), and he was happy just the way they were. Again, they eventually broke up due to their inability to compromise.

Robin wanted to be a mother so badly and decided she could be and would be a single mom. She and her friend, Dr. Kelly Lee, put a list of possible sperm donors together. Patrick hears about this list and is immediately jealous, although reluctant to admit it, even to himself. On November 30, 2007, after the horribly tragic Black and White Ball at Wyndemere, Patrick tells Robin that he still loves her and misses her. He realizes just wants them to be together again and asks her to forget about the idea of having children for a year. While she knows she's never been happier than when she's with him, she realizes that he won’t change his mind and breaks things off one more time.

In what seems like a tragic, random act of violence by a serial killer, Robin’s cousin Georgie meets her death at the hands of the Text Message Killer. After the funeral, Robin instinctually goes to Patrick to seek comfort and they make love. Unbeknownst to them, the condom they use is defective and Robin becomes pregnant.  Robin doesn't want Patrick to know that he is the father because she refuses to marry him just for the sake of the child. She wants him to love them both, so she lies about the paternity and lets him believe that she is pregnant due to the sperm donation.   She struggles with her decision, remembering what she did to Jason and Michael and seeking advice from others, but remains convinced she's doing the right thing for her and her child.  Eventually however, Patrick finds out the truth.

As Patrick goes into full father mode, Robin tries to calm him down.  On August 21, 2008, Robin catches Patrick and Epiphany conspiring. She thinks that they are trying to make her take an early maternity leave but Patrick has something else in mind. He gets on the PA system and declares his love for Robin and proposes in front of all of their friends and other loved ones. While everyone is looking at Robin, she becomes so overwhelmed that she leaves, leaving Patrick devastated. Patrick follows her to the park, where he finds her crying. She explains she doesn't want him to marry her only because she is pregnant with his child, and although he pleads with her to believe that he wants to marry her for her, she still says no. She tells him that she loves him, but that she cannot marry him, and walks away. A heartbroken Patrick remains, alone.

Patrick and Robin, in true Robin and Patrick fashion, cannot get on the same page - just when Robin realizes she does want to marry him, Patrick has finally accepted the fact that she does not. So, with the help of her Uncle Mac locking the two of them in the PCPD Interrogation Room, Patrick and Robin become engaged and decide to marry before their daughter is born. Their wedding is set for October 29th, 2008. Patrick, thinking he has plenty of time, goes to the hospital to do a couple of last minute rounds.  However, just as he is about to leave, Anthony Zacchara is brought in with a head injury and needs surgery. Matt, Patrick's newly found half brother who is also a brain surgeon, offers to take it the surgery so Patrick can get to his wedding on time, but Patrick is afraid that should something go wrong, the Zacchara's would go after him and refuses Matt's offer. Meanwhile, back at the church, everyone waits for Patrick's arrival impatiently. Some believe that he has a case of cold feet and has left his fiancée at the altar. Robin is the only one with no doubt about Patrick's love and is certain that he will be there. As some of those closest to her are trying to talk her into leaving, Patrick comes running into the church.  The wedding begins with Patrick at the top of the aisle, with Coleman as his bestman, waiting while Mac walks Robin down the aisle. Just as they are about to exchange their vows, Robin's water breaks and she goes into labor. After having a complicated delivery, Robin delivers their daughter, Emma Grace Scorpio Drake. During the delivery there was a nick on baby Emma's hear which leads to an HIV scare for the new parents. The test results come back negative for HIV and they and their families are relieved, but it is short-lived. As soon as they receive the good news, Robin falls into a coma. Robin regains consciousness a couple of days later to see Patrick holding Emma on the foot of the hospital bed.

When Robin and Patrick go home with the baby Robin, becomes depressed, believing Emma only cries with her. On Thanksgiving, Robin and Patrick set another wedding date for just after Christmas, not wanting their wedding to interfere with their daughter's first Christmas.

Robin's father returns to Port Charles from Switzerland, in remission from colon cancer, and her mother is back as well from a spy mission so that everyone can be together for the wedding. In this wedding, Robert walks his daughter down the aisle and Robin asks Anna to be her bride's maid. Patrick asks his brother Matt to be his best man. On December 26th, the wedding goes off without a hitch. No shootings, no delays, no drama. Just love and romance and happiness.

Robin continues to withdraw from baby Emma and Patrick and is diagnosed with postpartum depression. Being the independent, controlling woman she is, she believes she can overcome the disease herself but when Robin's behavior becomes so erratic and even dangerous, her friends and family hold an intervention. Eventually she is sent away for treatment and upon her return, she, Patrick and Emma begin their life together, happier and closer than ever.

The couple is now facing a murder mystery/malpractice suit involving Mayor Floyd and his secret affair and a surgery performed by Patrick's brother, Matt. The two are now searching for clues on exactly what happened to the dead mistress.
